Most of us don’t see a downside to the mild winter, unless you love the cold and snow. This past winter was unusually warm and mild. The problem with this is that many insects that are problems for farmers are not killed off in sufficient numbers. This means that the farmers will have to use more pesticides this year in order to protect their corps. The upside on the mild winter not killing off a lot of insects that usually are killed off are the bees. This means it should be a big year for Iowa usual $3.5 million honey industry. On top of the honey industry the bees will help cross pollinate even more crops to help yield better crops in the future. This winter only killed off less than half of what the past winters have done, which is good news for the bees and honey lovers. This is no call for panic or to go call up some Iowa long distance movers to move you out of state. The insect populations should not be that much higher, the concern is more so for farmers having to use pesticides earlier. For the insect public enemy number one, mosquitoes, there is nothing to worry about with them. Winters don’t affect their numbers; it’s the spring weather and the stagnant water that will determine their numbers for the summer.
The Iowa Caucus is closing in on the Hawkeye State. On January 3rd Iowa will begin the process that will decide the nominations for the democrats and republicans. The Des Moines movers are staunch supporters of getting Iowans out and participating in the Iowa Caucuses.
